Mountain gorillas

Mountain gorillas are sub-species of the eastern gorillas.  We share around 98% of our DNA with gorillas. This means that our illnesses can make the gorillas sick, too, as they have the same DNA as us. The problem is that the gorillas haven't developed the ability to deal with diseases.

Why  are mountain gorillas important?

Gorillas, like all wild animals, play an important role in their environment. Without these animals that eat lots of plants, the natural balance in the food chain would be disrupted.

The mountain gorilla lives in the mountains of central Africa.

How can we help the mountain gorillas?

One of the best ways to help mountain gorillas is to donate money to the organizations working with them. With this money vets and park rangers can be paid to help save the mountain gorillas; they can heal them when they get sick and save them from being killed by poachers. Only a few dollars every month can make a big difference.

When you go to visit, how do you approach them?

You need to walk up quietly to the mountain gorillas because when you run fast, the animals will feel threatened. This can lead to them being aggressive and fighting you. For your own and the animals’ safety it is important to treat them with respect.

Undoubtedly mountain gorillas are very important for our world. Our role is to help and protect them.

	I like to watch anime movies. It is cool and it is like drawing. On the weekend I saw Fight.  It was a crackup and silly. I like the action. In the beginning they did not know how to fight. The middle of the story was training. In the end they were the best.
	I will try to do my best with teamwork.  I am good at working together, helping others, encouraging them when they make a mistake.
	I want to learn to be at art and book reading and become a  Boy who became the man in school is why I want to become the boy who knows everything at school. Appreciation of Beauty - when you see new stuff that you have not seen before and it is awesome.
